There are so many elements that I created for this 50th birthday party. This is just a small sampling of the many pieces. Pictured are the invitation, menu, cocktail napkins and a photo of the table which shows the menu and a small accordion-folded photo piece of the birthday boy throughout the years. We also created wine lists, mini-footballs, stickers for gift bags, mailing labels, a large poster . . . and I’m sure I’m leaving a few things out.

Step away from the computer.

Veer, a stock photography/font/illustration site, ran a contest that asked designers to “Step away from the computer and re-create the Veer logo using real-world objects or materials.” Here’s my entry. Thanks to Katy for her photography skills!

The logo process

Here are a few of the other ideas that floated around in my head for the Wink logo. Sometimes it’s fun to go back and look at the gradual changes that got the final logo from initial idea to final product. For this particular one, I had 14 original ideas (some entirely unique, some variations on colors and placement) and I ended up wtih 18 versions of the final one before we were completely happy with it. Sounds like a lot, but often the difference between versions is something as simple as a slight change in color, or seeing what it looks like in several different fonts. It all happens pretty quickly.wink-unused

Wink Logo

Here’s a new logo for an Optometry/glasses shop in Calabasas. I had a lot of fun playing with ideas for this.

“sewing”

baby

I learned how to “sew” in Photoshop today and I think it would make an adorable baby announcement or 1st birthday party invitation. What about a cooking themed wedding shower? Or custom recipe cards? So many ideas!!

Big Blue Bus!

bigbluebus1

So I’m driving to work on a Monday morning and what a fun surprise to see my artwork on the back of the Big Blue Bus! Obviously I created the artwork so I knew they’d be up there eventually, but I didn’t realize how many buses would be cruisin’ around Santa Monica with my poster on it. I haven’t been IN the bus to check out if the inside artwork is up – let me know if you see it!

006 to the rescue! These arrived in brown paper envelopes, complete with a “confidential” stamp.

Twilight Dance Series

Here’s the final poster for the Twilight Dance Series. Look for it, plus ads, banners, rack cards, bus signage, etc. around Santa Monica!

Happy Hour!

A pink invitation for a work event? I know it’s crazy! I really like this design – and it could be reused in many color combos for any occasion . . . contact me if you need something similar.

Heli-skiing

If you ask me, this is an entirely crazy idea, but the invitation was fun to work on.

SKI TRIP

skitrip

This was a super simple concept but looked great when all the pieces came together. We used a black envelope with a matching blue label. Shown here is the invitation, itinerary, t-shirt, coozie and chapstick. There was also matching banners, gift bags, gloves, cocktail napkins and stickers.

Seeing Stars

A networking event at a planetarium – cool idea which needed an equally cool invitation. There was a larger conference event being held beforehand, so I created these business card sized reminders that got handed out at the conference. They included transportation info on the back – great idea for any event that leads to another location.
